ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS: IMPORTANT DIBS INFO
SAFE SPORT / BACKGROUND CHECKS: All volunteers are required to undergo a background check and Safe Sport training before they can claim any DIBS shifts. Additionally, all coaches must be certified through USA Hockey and/or complete the age-specific module.
If you plan to claim shifts that involve contact with children under the age of 18, such as coaching or assistant coaching for Intro to Hockey, and you are over the age of 18, it is imperative that you complete your background check and Safe Sport certification via USA Hockey before participating in your DIBS session.
To meet these requirements, please follow these steps:
SafeSport Certification: https://www.usahockey.com/safesportprogram
USA Hockey Registration: https://membership.usahockey.com/
Your commitment to these steps helps us maintain a safe and positive environment for all participants. Thank you for your dedication to the well-being of our young athletes.
2023-24 FAMILY REQUIREMENTS: Clarification on DIBS HoursWe've received some questions about the DIBS hours for this season, so let's address them:
Question: Are the required 10 DIBS hours per family or per player?
Answer: It's 10 DIBS hours per FAMILY.
Question: Will we be required to save a certain percentage of our hours to work tournaments?
Answer: NO, there will be no specific percentage of DIBS hours allocated for tournament work.
Please keep in mind that this is the first year of the merger, and we're doing our best to estimate and allocate DIBS hours. If it turns out that we've not offered enough DIBS opportunities or required too few, we'll review this at the end of the season and make adjustments for the future.
Hosting tournaments requires a significant amount of humanpower, and we greatly appreciate all your efforts to help ensure everything runs smoothly. Your support is invaluable to our association. Thank you!

CONNECT TO WWW.AVBHOCKEY.COM BY 9/30
Don't miss out – be sure to connect your SportsEngine account to our brand-new website before September 30th. It's your key to staying in the loop with all things hockey!
Why is this important? Well, the old sites are nearing their expiration date and won't be maintained or updated any longer. Additionally, it's all about streamlining communications. Currently, our communications are generated by sending to lists from both the old AV and BV sites, leading to some redundancy as folks receive multiple copies. By connecting to the new site, not only will you stay current, but you'll also help tidy up our lists so you'll only receive communications if you choose to. It's a win-win!
Here's how to connect your account to the new site:
First, log into SportsEngine.
Then, go to www.avbhockey.com and follow these steps:
1. Click on your profile picture (in the upper right corner)
2. Click “Connect to Site” on pop-up window
3. Select the profile(s) you would like to connect
4. Click ”Join Network With Selected Profiles”
SUCCESS! You are now connected!
Need a visual for those instructions? We've got you covered - just keep scrolling... it's waiting for you all the way down at the bottom of this email.
