As we head into the holiday weekend, we just want to take a second to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our amazing AVBHA families! Whether you're skating, cheering from the stands, or helping behind the scenes, YOU are what makes our community so awesome.
We hope your Thanksgiving is filled with food, fun, and maybe even a little (or a lot of) hockey!
Now, let’s jump into this week’s updates and reminders to keep the season rolling. From DIBS spots to exciting events, we’ve got all the info you need right here. Enjoy!

The Thanksgiving Classic is here, and we’re calling on YOU to help make it a success! There are still plenty of DIBS slots open for this Saturday and Sunday, and we really need your support to pull off this big event.
Not only is this a fantastic way to show your love for hockey and help our players shine, but it’s also your chance to:
• Rock the Rink as our music DJ
• Score Big by keeping the gamesheet
• Master the Clock as timekeeper
• Be a Penalty Box Legend (it's like having the best seat in the house!)
Remember, every family is required to complete 10 DIBS hours—and this weekend is the perfect time to knock some out. Unworked hours = $50/hour fee, but volunteering = fun AND community spirit. It’s a win-win!
Let’s work together to make this weekend unforgettable for our players, teams, and fans. We can’t do it without YOU!

Heads up, AVBHA Families! The Burnsville Training Center will be closed this weekend. Just a reminder—our training center is for dryland activities, not ice.
But before the weekend begins, there’s one last session this week:
Tonight, Wednesday:
3:30–5:30 - Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, 10U, and 12U
Enjoy the holiday weekend, and we’ll see you back next week to hit the ground running!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out for Youth Night and supported our Hockey Hits Back event last week at AVSA! It was an incredible night filled with energy, excitement, and a shared commitment to an important cause—mental health awareness.
We are so proud of our players, fans, and community for packing the stands and showing their Eagles and Valkyries pride. To all the AVB youth players who wore their jerseys, your presence lit up the arena! And to the parents, coaches, and volunteers who helped with everything from organizing the event to cheering from the stands, we couldn’t have done it without you.
Special thanks to Sophie’s Squad for joining us and helping shine a spotlight on the importance of mental health in young athletes. The ceremonial puck drops, the team unity, and the personal reflections on “why mental health matters” created a meaningful and memorable evening for everyone involved.
Together, we’re not just building great hockey players—we’re building a strong, supportive community where there’s always hope, and there’s always help.
Thank you for your enthusiasm, your time, and your support. Let’s keep this incredible spirit going all season long!

Introducing Eagle Awards: Recognizing Our Mite Players' Growth & Effort!
We are excited to announce the launch of the Eagle Awards—a new recognition program we've created in partnership with the high school coaches to celebrate the progress and effort of our in-house Mite players this season!
The Eagle Awards will honor the development of key hockey skills, including:
• Hard Work and Positive Attitude
• Forward Skating & Stopping
• Stick Handling
• Backward Skating
• Inside and Outside Edges
Throughout the season, kids will be recognized and celebrated for their improvements in these areas. You may have already spotted the Eagle Award poster or seen a new sticker on your player’s helmet—these are part of the fun!
Players who earn Eagle Awards will be honored at upcoming High School Boys and Girls Games. This is a fantastic way to motivate our young players and highlight their dedication on the ice!
Let’s give a big round of applause to our Mites and cheer them on as they develop and achieve great things this season!
