The next goalie clinic for the association is TOMORROW, Wednesday, December 4th.
If parents and coaches haven’t already done so, we encourage you to follow the “Goalies” team in SportsEngine for level-specific schedules. For more information, be sure to check out the “Goalies” team in the SportsEngine app: https://sportsengine.page.link/djafNTnovxnq1u8t6.
We encourage prioritizing these clinics over regular practices, but we understand that games take precedence.
All coaches are welcome and encouraged to attend and shadow the goalie sessions!

We are excited to invite you to a very special event on Friday, December 20, at 7:00 PM at Apple Valley Sports Arena!
This varsity game is more than just hockey—it’s a celebration of 30 years of Minnesota Girls High School Hockey and our incredible legacy as a program. We’ll be honoring the 1994–1995 AVWH Eagles, the first-ever Minnesota State High School Girls Hockey Champions, with an on-ice ceremony between the 1st and 2nd periods.
All AVWH alumni are our honored guests for the evening and will receive free admission to the game. Come reconnect with old teammates, share memories, and celebrate this milestone in AVWH history! We’ll have snacks and a special area for alumni to gather and enjoy the night.
Let’s pack the arena to honor the 30th anniversary of girls high school hockey and the team that paved the way for so many young athletes!

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY
The 1994-1995 season was a landmark moment in Minnesota sports, marking the inaugural season of girls’ high school hockey—a trailblazing step that opened doors for young women to compete at the varsity level. On February 24, 1995, history was made when the Apple Valley Eagles Girls’ Hockey Team captured the first-ever Minnesota State High School Championship, defeating South St. Paul 2-0 at Aldrich Arena. This incredible victory not only solidified Apple Valley as pioneers in the sport but also laid the foundation for future success, including another State Championship in 1998.
Fast forward 30 years, and girls’ and women’s hockey have come a long way, with Minnesota at the forefront of its growth. The state boasts hundreds of high school and youth girls’ hockey teams, and the sport has grown to include a professional league, the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). Adding to this legacy, on May 29, 2024, Team Minnesota—renamed the Minnesota Frost in September—clinched the Walter Cup during the PWHL’s inaugural season, cementing Minnesota’s reputation as a powerhouse in women’s hockey.
From that groundbreaking 1994-1995 season to today’s thriving youth and professional programs, the progress in girls’ and women’s hockey has been extraordinary. Thanks to the dedication of players, coaches, and communities, girls now have more opportunities than ever to play, compete, and succeed in the sport we all love.
Here’s to celebrating 30 years of girls’ hockey excellence—and to many more milestones to come!
